KUWAIT CITY, April 21: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reportedly rejected the request of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) to increase the cost of recruiting domestic workers from 890 to 980 dinars ( by more than 10%) to help recruitment agencies deal with the high costs of recruitment, particularly with regard to ticket prices, reports the daily Al-Qabas. The ministry in its response pointed out that the cost of recruitment by the offices and the recruitment company should not exceed 890 dinars, including the cost of the travel ticket and the examination of the worker in his country of origin.

In a letter of which the daily obtained a copy, the ministry underlines that in the event of violation of the decision, the ministry will unfortunately have no choice but to apply the law and prevent them from doing business. , noting that a task force has been formed to receive complaints related to the ministerial decision. In addition, sources revealed that the Ministry of Trade and Industry will launch campaigns against domestic worker recruitment offices, especially offices that do not respect the ministerial decision not to charge more than 890 dinars, including including travel expenses and medical examinations.
